TEQ Customs GX470 Build Overview

TEQ Customs GX470 Build Overview

We've put more time and money into our shop Gx than we'd like to think about, but, we built a monster. Done fully in house, this GX470 was built to maximize performance on the rocks while still retaining IFS. While we love were it sits now, we have some big plans for this rig in 2025 and will continue updating the build list as we go.

If you're looking to build out your GX470 or other vehicle, let us know!. Our experienced staff can help design and set up a high performing suspension package that meets your needs. We offer a range of options from basic lift kits to full blown long travel, like we installed here. If you have questions about suspension upgrades or any other upgrades for your truck of SUV, contact us and we would be happy to help.

Wheels and Tires

We've been running 2 different setups on the GX. We'll be swapping between these depending on the wheeling we're doing.

  • 40x13.5x17 Mickey Thompson MTZ's on Method 101 Machined Beadlocks, -10 offset
  • 38x13.5x17 Mickey Thompson Baja Pro XS on Dirty Life Roadkill Beadlocks, -12 offset

We run 1.25in Spidertrax Spacers with both setups for clearance on the front spindles.

The 40's are fun, but still put a lot of stress on the steering components despite the upgrades. We'll continue to edit our setup and test them to find a viable way to run 40's with IFS.

The 38in Baja Pro XS's absolutely eat in southeastern mud and the rocks. The extra inch of ground clearance is missed, but this is our more reliable setup for the GX at this time.

Both tires perform exceptionally well off-road. We typically run about 8 PSI with the beadlocks. The GX is set up to clear both the 38's and 40's at full lock and full turn.

Other Modifications

This build began in November of 2023 with a very stock GX. We spent countless hours stripping off all of the old parts, doing maintenance, cutting old mounts off of the frame, prepping the axle, welding on mounts, and designing the 3 link system. We're thrilled to have gotten to the point where this GX is a extremely capable and reliable vehicle. We'd wheel this thing anywhere.
